At Deer Park Middle School, students have a variety of enrichment opportunities designed to support their interests, talents, and personal growth. Students participate in club days, school-sponsored athletic tournaments, and heritage months. Students can get active and build teamwork skills through afterschool activities that provide students with even more ways to get involved and stay connected to their school community.

Family

Family involvement is an integral part of the Deer Park Middle School community. The school hosts family events that highlight academic achievements and showcase the incredible talents of students in the Art and Steel Drums programs. Parents and guardians are encouraged to volunteer and support school events throughout the year. Families who need additional support can contact the school’s Parent Advocate, who is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, to receive assistance and guidance in connecting with school resources.

Coaches for Character is proud to announce The CHAMP Awards, an annual event that honors 88 Charleston County students. Two students are chosen from every eighth grade and twelfth grade. The award is designed to honor true "Unsung Heroes" or "CHAMPS." The nomination process focuses on identifying and selecting students who often go unnoticed, even though they have accomplished wonderful things in their community, church, home, or school. Their selection is based on character, community service, academic effort, and overcoming odds.

Deer Park is more than just a school where I work.  It's a "home away from home".  As teachers, we grow with these amazing children from the wide eyed 6th graders to the ready to move on 8th graders.  It's truly refreshing to work with our amazing staff.  They all hold the same mantra of "All in. All day.  Every day."  We love these kids and are vested with the success of each student.  I am truly honored to be a part of this community. - Mr. Stowell, teacher
